Experience
My journey and passion for the mental health field began in my youth, observing family members grapple with grief, loss, and transitions, often with limited access to support. These experiences shaped my desire to help others facing their own difficulties.
In 2009, volunteering as a peer counselor at Maitri, a South Asian agency dedicated to helping victims of domestic violence. I helped clients navigate transitions out of violent relationships, overcome legal, financial, and emotional hardships, and reestablish their identities.
I have supported young adults at a community college with issues such as relationships, career development, identity formation, severe mental illness, life transitions, and adjustment. Additionally, I have facilitated psycho-education and support groups for court-mandated clients who were cited for driving under the influence. Also, I have led groups at a juvenile hall for incarcerated youth dealing with gang involvement, substance abuse, and anger management.
My work with both children and adults has involved clients from various ethnic backgrounds and has addressed a broad range of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, autism spectrum disorders, schizophrenia, trauma, interpersonal relationships, grief and loss, relationship problems, and life skills.
Prior to my work in mental health, I spent over 12 years in Corporate America, where I gained valuable experience working in teams and achieving growth through dedication to deadlines. I am a curious individual, well-traveled, fascinated by world cultures, and an avid reader.
